Welcome to the Schoodic Gateway Events Center
The Schoodic Gateway Events Center is the home of the Frenchman’s Bay Library, the Sullivan-Sorrento Historical Society, and the Sullivan Thrift Store. We offer a 2,600 square-foot event hall with a 400 square-foot kitchen, and a 250 square-foot community meeting room which are available to rent for private parties and events such as reunions, receptions, indoor yard sales, games, and sporting events. A community playground and skate park adjoin on the east side.
HELP BRING A $1 MILLION COMMUNITY HUB TO DOWNEAST MAINE!
The Schoodic National Scenic Byway seeks $800,000 in federal funds to upgrade the Sorrento-Sullivan Recreation Center in Sullivan, Maine, into a modern, accessible hub with visitor amenities. The project costs $1,000,000; the federal grant covers $800,000, with $100,000 pledged by local groups. We need to raise the remaining $100,000 as Maine’s DOT can’t provide the last matching funds. If we don’t secure this, we risk losing the federal funding. If the grant is not awarded, donations will fund pavilion construction; either way, the community benefits.
